Gujaratstartups, MEHSANA: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has embarked on a multi disciplinary team (MDT) approach in western onshore to mark the beginning of a unique organizational model to strengthen its focus on exploration and production.
The MDT model will work under the existing assets in the western onshore and depending on the outcome, the model will be rolled out in the entire company.
ONGC CMD RS Sharma underscored the need for more cohesive and empowered MDT approach in asset-based model to expedite the decision making process and improve efficiency and productivity as well as more precision toward reserve accretion.
Speaking at the special executive committee meet here on Saturday Sharma stated that the MDT approach is conceived to herald a process of churning.
The pilot MDTs, those have been set up in the three assets in Gujarat, need to be closely monitored and periodically evaluated so as to ascertain the tangible contributions from them in terms of production efficiency, streamlining systems and procedures and fostering an overall growth, the CMD said.
The prime objective is to create a platform where all the departments, involved in the decision making process, will come together and sort out each and every issue for faster and more effective implementation of projects.
Sharma stated that there will be multiple issues that will emerge from the experience of functioning of these pilot MDTs.
Dr AK Balyan, director human resource said the MDTs are assigned with the task of collective planning and faster implementation of the projects.
The first pilot project has been rolled out at Mehsana, which is the largest onshore asset of the company. Executive director-asset manager Ashok Gupta said the new facilities are being created to make the MDT project a success.
